Indian TV channels win Intl awards for branding
New Delhi, Jul 14: Two of India's TV channels have bagged six awards at the Promax/BDA World Gold Awards Competition in the United States, which recognises excellence in on-air promotion, branding and advertising.
Cartoon Network and POGO, the channels run in India by the Turner Entertainment Networks Asia, Inc. (TENA), have bagged six awards at this year's edition of the Promax/BDA World Gold Awards Competition held in New York on June 22, a release by the Turner Entertainment Networks Asia said.
They have bagged two awards at the Promax/BDA 2006 India conference held in Mumbai on July 12.
At the New York event, the network received the Promax Gold Awards for Total Package Design and Promotional item and the BDA gold award for best Promotional Item. It also received Silver Awards for Art Direction and Design and a Bronze Award for Total Package Design.
At the India leg of the Promax/BDA competition, the network bagged a Gold award in the Best Children's programme promo category for their original production M.A.D and a Silver in the 'Best in House Station Image Promo' category for the Scooby-Doo promo as part of "The best place for cartoons" campaign, which was run on Cartoon Network.
Expressing delight at the awards, Orion Ross, Vice President, Creative and Original Content, Creative Services, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia said,''I am happy that Promax and BDA have recognized the achievements of Cartoon Network and POGO at the recent Promax/BDA International and its' India conference. What really makes our job easier, though, are innovative programs such as M.A.D., inventive campaigns like the POGO Amazing Kids Awards and our bright and talented staff, inspiration is never lacking." Over the years, Cartoon Network and POGO have bagged more than 135 awards to date from PROMAX&BDA and other award giving bodies.
In recent years alone, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia (TENA) took home eleven awards, including four Golds and seven Silvers at the PROMAX&BDA 2004 awards. Again in 2005, at the 57th Primetime Emmy Awards held in Los Angeles, Cartoon Network bagged three Emmys for its original series 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'.
