France' republic day celeberated in Pondy

Pondicherry, July 14 (UNI) The 217th Republic Day of France was celebrated with gaiety and fanfare by over 10,000 French citizens in the Union Territory of Pondicherry today.

The Consul General of France in Pondicherry Michel Seguy, Secretary to the Pondicherry administration, Chaturvedi(representing the Lt Governor), representatives to the French Lower House from Pondicherry and retired French military personnel were among others, who placed wreaths at the 'Munument aux Morts'(Monument for the unknown soldier) here to mark the occasion.

The French national flags were hoisted atop all french buildings.

Mr Seguy would host a reception at the French Consulate this evening, in which the Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his cabinet collegues and senior officials of the territorial administration would participate.
