Cases to be filed against Lok Sikshaks found guilty
Patna, Jul 14 (UNI) Getting tough towards the 'aggression' of Lok Sikshaks, Bihar government today described it as "unfortunate" and announced to file criminal cases against those guilty of ransacking the civil society.
State Home Secretary Afazal Amanullah told newspersons here that the government would not allow any person or group to hold the civil society at ransom.
He said the agitating Lok Sikshaks had created a situation so that the administration was forced to resort to lathicharge to maintain law and order situation.
The entire incident had been video graphed and the Lok Sikshaks, who induldged in the aggression would not be spared and criminal cases would be filed against such persons, he said and threatened to debar them from consideration for appointment even if they qualify for the same.
To a query, Mr Amanullah said he had not expected such "shameful" act from the teachers.
He said no procession would be allowed in undemocratic manner.
He said 15 people sustained injuries in the agitation while 68 Lok Sikshaks were arrested for disturbing law and order.
Elaborating the background of the agitation led by the Lok Sikshaks, the Human Resources Development Secretary Madan Mohan Jha said the Lok Sikshaks and were not regular teachers in any school and were given honorarium against their services rendered under the National Literacy Mission.
He cleared that only eligible Lok Sikshaks possessing intermediate as minimum qualification could be recruited as regular teachers if they applied for the same.
Earlier, several Lok Sikshaks, who had taken out a procession in the state capital, suddenly turned violent and pelted stones at the administration.
Later the local administration lobbed tear gas shells and resorted to lathicharge in which 15 people were injured.
The agitating Lok Sikshaks were demonstrating to press for their demand for appointment as regular teachers.
