Car convoy spanning 100 years to mark motor show
LONDON, July 14 (Reuters) Classic cars from every decade of the last 100 years will parade through London on Sunday to mark the return to the capital next week of the British International Motor Show.
Model and motoring fan Jodie Kidd will wave a flag at 2:30 p.m. to start the procession from Park Lane to Trafalgar Square.
Organisers say they expect the event, which also features vehicles from the big and small screen, will attract crowds of up to 100,000.
Spectators will be able to see Scooby Doo's van, Lara Croft's Tomb Raider Land Rover and the futuristic cop car driven by Judge Dredd.
Vintage Model T Fords, Bentleys and Rolls Royces, as well as pedigree sports cars from Aston Martin and Lotus will take part.
Also in the convoy will be World War Two vehicles and vintage London taxis as well as a marching band from the Royal Air Force accompanied by a troupe of cheerleaders.
The annual British International Motor Show, which was last staged in London at Earl's Court in 1976 before moving to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, opens on Thursday in the ExCel centre in east London.
