Guwahati, Jul 14 (UNI) Asom government has laid emphasis on development and proper utilisation of human resources for progress of the state.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had recently informed the state Assembly that the government would encourage Information Technology-based industries to come to the state, pointing out that IT defies geographical isolation and surface transport bottlenecks.
Mr Gogoi said the state, in particular, and NE, in general, had qualified manpower, who were also proficient in English, the main requisites for induction into the IT sector.
He said the state government would endeavour to bring in world class IT companies to the state.
The Chief Minister also welcomed 'reputed private educational institutions' to set up law, medical, engineering, management, architecture, design and fashion design colleges in the state.
He said the government would also enter into public-private partnership, if the need arises, to help these institutions in opening centres here.
Mr Gogoi further informed that the Assam State Wide Area Network (ASWAN), which would connect state headquarters to the district headquarters and the block/circle headquarters and finally to the village level Common Service Centres, would be implemented soon.
This network would create a platform for efficient citizen centric services, enable entrepreneurs to take up commercial activities and generate employment for about 4,000 people.
The Central government had already released Rs 72.48 crore for setting up of ASWAN out of which an amount of Rs 15 crore has been allotted to AMTRON, the network implementing agency.
