Arunachal to have adventure sports cum mountaineering institute

Itanagar, July 14 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government is contemplating setting up an adventure sports-cum-mountaineering institute at Sarkam under Upper Siang district through NEC sponsored scheme. This was announced by Chief Minister Gegong Apang at Yingkiong, the district headquarters, yesterday during his day-long visit to East and Upper Siang districts, informed official sources here today. ''The institute would boost the abundant tourism potential of the district,'' the Chief Minister said while pleading the villagers of Simong and Komkar to donate some land for the purpose.

Necessary compensation would be paid if required to avoid any inconvenience in the future, Mr Apang said adding, proper demarcation of land had to made and encroachment will be not tolerated.

He further informed that the state government was also planning tor develop biodiversity projects in the area.
