Victims recuperates in hospitals day after the blast

Mumbai, July 12 (UNI) A day after the horrific blasts that rocked the city of Mumbai and left the city paralysed leaving more than 172 dead and over 561 injured a few good Samaritans in the city carried the injured to safety in hospitals in the city like the Bhabha hospital and Leelavati hospital in the suburbs in Bandra , and Nanavati hospital and Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle.

At the Leelavati hospital there are patients in the ICU who are critical. The doctors said they are very particular about sanitation.

Speaking to UNI the bravehearts who are recuperating in Leelavati hospital are Parag Mahadani who works for Godrej Infotech said, ''I was at Bandra with my friend when the blast happened. After the blast me and my friend went to Bhabha hospital and I called my mom.

My mom came immediately but the staff at Bhabha hospital was overworked so she shifted me to Leelavati hospital.'' Parag's ear drums are damaged by 30 per cent because of the impact of the blast.

His left hand is burnt, his back is partially burnt, he has stitches on his waist and at the back of his ears. His thumb is injured. ''I think my friend is also alright,'' says Parag, who is on a drip.

His mother broke down as she spoke, ''He is our only son. My husband had also come to be with him, but he is a heart patient and has undergone a bypass surgery. So he has to be careful,'' ''Our good karma has helped us,'' she wept. ''The hospitals have taken good care of us.'' Speaking of the blast she said, ''We stay at Borivili and when the blast happened the ground shook as though there was an earthquake.'' Pundalik More who works for the Union Bank of India was in the 5.58 train which was a Borivili fast. He was in the compartment where the blast happened between Khar and Santacruz. From his looks his face is swollen, his forehead bears deep scars of the blast, his eyes are swollen and blood red and his face and ears are covered in dry blood. He said, ''after the blast one of the commuters took me to the ICU at Asha Parekh hospital at Santacruz and he called my son who came and immediately shifted me to Leelavati.'' His son said, ''According to X-ray reports he has a depressed fracture on the frontal left side of the brain. It is not confirmed whether his eardrums are affected because of the blast. But the doctors say he is going to be fine and no other medication is needed.'' Mr More too is on a drip.
