Tata Motors set to Ace its mini-truck exports

Mumbai, July 13: Tata Motors has geared up to broaden its presence in the overseas markets with an upgraded version of the vehicle, after exporting its mini-truck Ace to Sri Lanka.

The company is developing a higher pay load, better power version of the Ace, to be launched in few global markets by the next fiscal, a Tata Motors release, quoting its president (light and small commercial vehicles) P M Telang, here said.

The new version would also have features such as power steering and air-conditioning, he added.

The target markets for Ace include South Africa, Thailand and Indonesia, apart from the SAARC countries.

Tata Motors at present manufactures the Ace at its Pune plant and had sold 30,000 units in the last fiscal, since the vehicle's launch in May last year.

Tata Motors shot up its production capacity to 60,000 units at Pune and also established a greenfield plant at Uttaranchal, the release added.
