Sumitra discusses BJP's affairs in the wake of fluid political scene

Ranchi, Jul 13 (UNI) The Jharkhand BJP today held two rounds of discussion to review its much-touted membership drive and organisational matters in the presence of party national vice- president Sumitra Mahajan, Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Legislators, MPs and senior leaders here.

The first round, that began in the afternoon, took up matters relating to membership drive and strengthening of the party at grassroots levels.

Mr Mahajan, in-charge of Jharkhand, held discussions with state president Yadunath Pandey and different party functionaries in this regard.

Party insiders told UNI that the meeting took note of membership drive, Koderma by-election and other issues.

The party felt that by July 30 the membership drive should be completed and urged the members to guard the entry of fake members into the party.

The second round, which was termed as routine, was attended by all party bigwigs, including Chief Minister, MLAs, MPs and other senior leaders.

According to sources, the meeting did not discuss issues like formation of an alternative government as rumours were doing the round.

In the wake of fluid political situation, the JD(U) comprising six MLAs and five Independent MLAs - both important allies in the BJP-led government recently put pressure on the Chief Minister to reconsider their respective continuance in the coalition.
