Police hunt for suspects of LeT, SIMI
Hyderabad, July 13 (UNI) Even as police have launched a hunt for suspects of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of Tuesday's seven bomb blasts in local trains in Mumbai, the city police picked up a person at Nampally Railway station last night.
According to sources, the city police noticed a person moving in a suspicious manner in Nampally Railway station. On being questioned, the person identifed as Mohammed Abu Talha, who arrived here by the Mumbai-Hyderabad express, informed the police that he worked in a hotel near Pune railway station. As the wages were low, he had to return to Hyderabad after working in the hotel for three months.
However, police found a small book in his possession containing names of some persons from India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes and SIT) Rajiv Trivedi told media here that he had no information about the person who was picked up by the police.
Asked about police questioning suspects arrested in other cases for anti-national activities, Mr Trivedi said it was a routine practice. Police in all the states coordinate with each other from time-to-time in this regard, he added..
On the progress in the Task Force Office blast, Mr Trivedi said from Shahed, who allegedly masterminded the blast to former SIMI activists, the police were probing the possibility of the involvement of some persons connected to religious fundamentalist organisations.
