People committed to take forward mission of 1931 matryrs: NC

Srinagar, July 13 (UNI) Expressing confidence that the peace process initiated by India and Pakistan will continue despite unfortuante incidents, National Conference president Omar Abdullah today said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are committed to take forward the unfinished mission of the martyrs of 1931.

Addressing a public meeting at the Mazar-e-Shouda today, Mr Abdullah said the mission, started by the martyrs in 1931, still remained unfinished.

We are committed and duty bound to make sincere efforts to take it to its logical conclusion, he said.

He said the martyrs made the supreme sacrifice for a cause and it was now everyones duty to fulfil their dream.

About the India and Pakistan dialogue process, Mr Omar said there is some danger and black clouds still hover.

However, he expressed confidence that the process will continue despite unfortunate incidents.

He said a similar situation had emerged when the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pakistan President took a bold initiative and started the process. Today Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is also facing the same situation, he said and urged them to continue the process.

He stressed the need to resolve the Kashmir issue so that lasting peace in the sub-continent was restored.
