Official's remark: Cong withdraws dharna in K'taka Council
Bangalore, July 13 (UNI) The opposition Congress in the Karnataka Legislative Council today withdrew its dharna, protesting against a senior official's recent outbursts against elected representatives, following an assuarance from Home Minister M P Prakash to take suitable action.
When the Council assembled for the day, the Congress members continued their dharna in the well of the House for the second day demanding action against Karnataka Administrative Officer Ashokanand.
Replying to their demand, Mr Prakash said the government would issue show cause notice to the official and initiate action based on his reply. The government could not take action relying just on media reports.
He said he would also order an inquiry against Mr Ashokanand.
Mr Ashokanand had allegedly made some remarks on the 'non-performance' of the elected representatives at a meeting held in Mysore.
