LG India aims Rs 9000 cr business in 2006

Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) Consumer durable and home appliances major LG Electronics India is targeting Rs 9000 crore business in 2006, its business group head, consumer electronics, Amitabh Tiwari today said.

The company clocked Rs 7,500 crore turnover in 2005, Tiwari said.

LG Electronics India is bullish about growth in the digital audio video category and expects the segment to contribute Rs 300 crore business this year as against Rs 180 crore business last year, he said.

'' We are aiming at 30 per cent market share in the segment in 2007 as against 26 per cent at present,'' the executive said.

The company today unveiled the ''DivX certified audio-video systems'', new ''karaoke system'' and premium range of wireless hometheatre systems.

The DivX system will help download DVDs from the internet. The software for the product has been obtained from a tie-up with US based DivX.
