India A need 205 runs to win Top End match against Kiwis

Sydney, July 13 (UNI) Rudra Pratap Singh and Piyush Chawla broke the back of the New Zealand colts and skittled them out for 153 in the second innings as India A sniff victory in their four-day Top End series match against the Kiwis here today.

After the Kiwis had scored 332 in their first essay, the woefully lacklustre Indians out up a rather below-par show and were all out for 280, thus conceding a 52-run first innings lead.

RP Singh and Chawla, however, wrecked havoc in the second essay and bowled out the Kiwis for 153 and India would now need 206 runs to complete the win and they were one for no loss at stumps.

R P Singh just ripped through the New Zealand A batsmen before registering an impressive figures of 4-33 in just 18 overs, while Chawla followed his five-wicket haul in the first innings with another two wickets, including the scalp of Craig McMillan - who made a century in New Zealand A's first effort - for 15.

Rob Nicol top-scored for New Zealand A with 55, but only he, Matthew Sinclair (33), Mark Orchard (21) and McMillan reached double figures.
