Farmers Assn demands CBI probe into BMIC, mining issues
Hubli, July 13 (UNI) Karnataka Farmers Association today demanded a CBI inquiry into the illegal mining and the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project issues.
Addressing a press conference here, Association President K S Puttannaiah said the state government should come forward to punish the guilty.
He alleged that the coalition government in the state was not taking any initiative to find a permanent solution to the problems being faced by farmers. The package announced by it for the development of agriculture sector could not be considered as a permanent solution, he added.
To a question, Mr Puttannaiah said the government should treat the agriculture sector on par with IT and BT sectors.
He said the Association would organise a rally at Nargund in Dharwad district on occasion of ''Farmers Martyrs Day'' on July 21.
