Dalai Lama cancels Europe tour on health grounds
Dharamshala, Jul 13: The spiritual head of the Tibetan Government-in-exile the Dalai Lama has cancelled his European tour because the doctors advised him complete rest, the sources in the government said.
The doctors had advised complete rest to the spiritual head because of his extremely hectic and nonstop schedule since the beginning of this year.
The sources yesterday said the Dalai Lama was scheduled to give a lecture in the Finnish capital on July 11, followed by a two-week tour of France during which he was to tour Verdun, Evry and Rennes towns, and a visit to Spain later.
The spiritual head of the Tibetan government fled Tibet for India in 1959, when China crushed an uprising against nine years of communist rule after Chinese troops occupied the region in 1950.
