Common rehabilitation policy for displaced in coal industries mooted
Ranchi, July 13 (UNI) The Centre is actively considering to introduce common rehabilitation policy for the displaced in the coal industries.
The unanimity on the matter emerged at a meeting of coal ministry's parliamentary advisory committee in the presence of Union Coal Minister Sibu Soren organised by the Indian Institute of Coal Management here last night.
During the meeting, Mr Soren said there was need for a rehabilitation policy for the displaced adding the ministry would see that employment would be provided to the affected people.
The meeting felt that states adopted their own rehabilitation policies leading to confusion and suggested three should be a common policy.
Mr Soren scared the the small industries which alleged short supply, that the matter would be looked into and ruled out the ossibility of separation of Central Mines Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) from Coal India.
He said the Centre would consider the recommendations of a committee formed in this respect.
Regarding the promotion of Coal India officers, a report from the IIM was expected within one-and-half monhts, official sources said.
