Azad, Mufti visit Mazar-e-Shouda, pay tributes to martyrs of 1931
Srinagar, July 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and others paid homage to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 at the Mazar-e-Shouda today.
Mr Azad and Mr Mufti laid floral wreaths at the martyrs grave-yard in Khawaja Bazar here while a contingent of police presented guard of honour and reversed the arms.
Earlier, Mr Azad paid obeisance at the Ziarat of Hazrat Naqashband Sahib and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.
Director General of Police Gopal Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Basharat Ahmad and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said this day is observed to recall the sacrifices made by the people of the Jammu and Kashmir to uproot autocratic rule. This event later proved effective upsurge to form a movement against the autocratic rule and lay edifice of democracy, he said.
He expressed hope that the dialogue process between India and Pakistan would reach to its logical conclusion so that the much suffered people would again march on the path of peace, prosperity and development.
