Amarnath yatra suspended due to landslides

Jammu, Jul 13: The Amarnath yatra was suspended from Jammu for the second consecutive day today due to overnight landslide at five places in Ramban district which blocked the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

Sources said heavy landslides at five more places overnight near Ramban, between 125 to 150 Kms from here, led to suspension of traffic on the Highway.

The sources said pilgrims, who left for Amarnath this morning, were returning to Jammu and their trip was cancelled.

Meanwhiles the Border Roads Organisation, which maintains the national highway, has started to remove the landslides and make the highway clear for vehicular traffic. But they are facing hardships due to heavy rain since early morning.
