ADB gives Rs 17.67 cr for Qazigund-Kulgam road
Srinagar, Jul 13: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned Rs 17.67 crore for construction of a modern 16.5 km-long road from Qazigund to Kulgam in south Kashmir.
The road would provide modern road communication facilities to about 25000 population of three Legislative Assembly constituencies including Devsar, Kulgam and Noorbad. Besides, it will also boost horticulture trade in the area as the modern satellite fruit Mandi at Kulgam is located alongside this road.
The Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative, Abdul Aziz Zargar along with District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, G A Peer and senior engineers of the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) visited Pahloo and Kulgam to take stock of the arrangements for kick starting the project work.
The Minister said another road project for Chawalgam-Neehama to Aharbal costing Rs 30 crore has been submitted to ADB for funding and is under consideration.
This road, he said, will help to boost trade and economic activities in the backward and far flung areas of Kulgam.
