Security at major airports reviewed
New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) Union Home Secretary V K Duggal and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today held a meeting of senior officials to review the security at major airports in the country in the wake of serial bomb blasts in Mumbai last evening, in which as many as 183 people were killed and more than 700 injured.
Mr Duggal said there will be a complete review of the security measures at the airports in a time-bound manner. He said the overall security will be stepped up with special equipments to detect explosives.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and Home Ministry will co-ordinate efforts, he said.
The Home Secretary said all vital economic installations across the country have been put on high alert.
He also appealed to the passengers to cooperate with the security officials.
Mr Patel said his ministry will take pro-active measures to prevent any mishap.
Seven blasts rocked Mumbai's suburban Western Railway (WR) last evening within the space of half of an hour, in a ghastly reminder of the bloody 1993 post-Ayodhya explosions in the megapolis.
