RSS demands steps to ''ruthlessly'' crush terrorism
New Delhi, Jul 12 (UNI) Charging the UPA Government with being non-serious in tackling terrorism, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today demanded steps to ''ruthlessly'' stamp it out along with a stern message to Pakistan that the peace dialogue could not move ahead while terrorism radiated from its soil.
''We want the government to devise effective ways and means for ruthlessly crushing the terrorists and their godfathers both in and outside India,'' RSS National Executive member Ram Madhav said, while arguing that the UPA Government's approach towards the problem had been ''lacklustre and non-serious'' so far.
It was because of this approach only that the intelligence mechanism failed dismally, he said when reached for comments on the Mumbai blasts which killed and miamed hundreds of people.
The Government should ensure ''effective instruments like stringent laws and necessary training and infrastructural support to the security forces'' to tackle the menace, he said.
''Unfortunately the UPA Government does not seem to be interested in showing this commitment. Its decision earlier to repeal the available anti-terrorism acts and its decision to curtail budgetary allocation for the modernisation and training of security personnel to the tune of Rs 1600 crore shows the lacklustre and non-serious approach of this Government,'' Mr Ram Madhav said.
Strongly condemning the ''dastardly terrorist attack on civilian commuters'', he said it was a matter of concern that terrorist incidents had risen in number as well as in intensity over the last couple of years.
''One gets the feeling that the Government is acting like a soft State,'' he said.
While terming Pakistan as the breeding ground and exporter of Islamic terrorism into India, he deplored the Government's ''unwillingness to sternly tell'' Islamabad that the ''highest priority for both the nations should be to completely curb terrorism'' before any meaningful dialogue process could take place.
It was also surprising that despite repeated terrorist attacks, the Government was yet to put an emergency response system in place, he said, while pointing out that people were seen rushing the injured to hospitals in Mumbai in blankets.
