MP Govt approves revival of divisional tribal offices
Bhopal, July 12 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a proposal for revival of seven divisional deputy commissioner offices under the SC/ST Welfare Department.
The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here yesterday.
It aimed at removing difficulties being faced in carrying out monitoring, assessment and review of departmental schemes of institutions in remote areas, an official release here said.
The divisional offices were abolished in 1999 by the government.
Due to this, several difficulties were being faced in controlling the activities.
As per the decision, seven divisional offices would be revived at Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Bhopal-Hoshangabad, Ujjain, Gwalior-Chambal and Sagar.
Under the Tribal Welfare Department, 12,643 primary, 4,369 middle, 510 high, 476 higher secondary and nine model higher secondary schools were functional at present in rural areas besides three girls complex, 14 sports complex, 1963 pre-metric hostels and 197 post-metric hostels.
A task force formed by the Centre for the Xth five-year-plan has recommended to post the officers of Additional Director or Joint Director level at the divisional offices for regular monitoring of implementation of welfare schemes.
