Goa Assembly condemns blasts in Mumbai and Srinagar

Panaji, July 12 (UNI) Goa Assembly today unanimously adopted a resolution comdemning the serial blasts yesterday in Mumbai and Srinagar that claimed scores of lives, and warned the citizens to be vigilent against terrorist moves.

Moving the resolution in the House immediately after question hour, Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane mourned the death of people in Mumbai and expressed the Government's readiness to contribute a substantial amount to the relief of the victims.

He had initially offered Rs one crore to the Maharashtra Government towards the relief. He also told the House that he had instructed the police and other security authorities to keep a strict vigil in Goa for terrorist outfits like LeT and SIMI, who were suspected to be behind the blasts.

''Goans had spent a sleepless night last night and wished no State resident was killed in the blasts,'' he said.

Former State Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, appreciating the gesture of Mr Rane for donating Rs one crore initially from the Chief Minister relief fund to the blasts' victims in Mumbai, said the fight against terrorism should be continued by rising above party affiliations.

Mr Parrikar said, ''We are definitely worried about the security of the State, and more so use of weapons in the attacks.'' This requires systematic approach to the menace by the police in all respects, particularly, in the international tourist centres like Goa which draws immediate global attention.

Several others including State PWD Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar and BJP spokesperson Lakshmikant Parsekar condemned the dastardly attacks.
