Mumbai blasts: Red alert sounded in B'lore
Bangalore, July 11 (UNI) A red alert has been sounded in the city by both the police and railway authorities following the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai suburban trains this evening.
City Police Commissioner Neelam Achyut Rao told UNI that a red alert had been sounded in the entire city. Patrolling had been itensified in sensitive areas, including railway stations, bus stands and airport. Additional forces had been deployed and requisition for reserve police force had been sent.
South Western Railway (SWR) has also geared up its machinery with Railway Protection Force (RPF) initiating a thorough search of all incoming and outgoing trains in the three main railway stations -- Bangalore Central, Cantonment and Yesvantpur, SWR Senior Divisional Security commissioner D V Mishra said.
He said additional forces were deployed to check each and every boggie of incoming and outgoing trains. Dog squads had also been pressed into service.
As a precautionary measure security had been beefed up near ticket issuing and reservation counters and other railway facilities in the entire city with securitymen posted in all the places.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy held a emergency meeting with Home Minister M P Prakash in this regard. He has convened a high level meeting tomorrow to review the security arrangements in the State.
Mr Prakash would hold a meeting with top police officials tonight, the sources added.
