Japan's Abe says still seeking N.Korea resolution
TOKYO, July 11 (Reuters) Japan's top government spokesman Shinzo Abe said today that Tokyo would wait a day or two, but there was no change in its policy of seeking a UN Security Council vote to impose North Korean sanctions.
The UN forum decided on Monday not to vote on the resolution calling for sanctions on North Korea for firing missiles last week after Council members agreed to allow time for China's diplomatic efforts.
''There is no change in our position of seeking a resolution with sanctions,'' Abe told a news conference.
Separately, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso said Japan wanted to see a decision on the resolution by the time of the Group of Eight summit in St. Petersburg from July 15-17.
Aso added that the minimum content would be a ban on the sale and purchase of missile technology to North Korea.
