Day-night temperatures above normal in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 11 (UNI) With no rains, the valley remained hot as both maximum and minimum temperature were up by several degree from normal.

People took to streets at several places as life remained affected because of acute shortage of water and frequent power cuts.

A spokesman for the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told UNI the minimum temperature was recorded 21.5 degrees celsius, two degree above normal.

The maximum temperature was also two degrees above normal at 32.2 degrees celsius.

The Met office has predicted some respite for the people from hot and humid weather conditions during the next few days, saying there will be rain during the next 24 hours.

He said the sky will remain generally cloudy with rains at some places on Pahalgam-Amarnath cave shrine route.

The residents at several parts of the summer capital and the Valley have complained of acute shortage of drinking water and electricity. Several areas in the city were without electricity for many hours yesterday and today.
