Windies organisers admit woes, assure ICC on World Cup preparation

St John's, July 10 (UNI) Admitting Grenada and Guyana have some catch up work to do before the venues get in shape for next year's World Cup, Chairman of the Cricket World Cup 2007 Kenneth Gordon assured ICC that the organisers are leaving no stone unturned to meet the deadlines.

Speaking at the ICC Cricket Business Forum at Lord's, Mr Gordon said tremendous efforts were on in Grenada while Guyana was grappling with the issue of accommodation.

''Many of you would have heard that Grenada was one of our problems, which we spent many an anxious moment over because of the hurricanes and they were in pretty bad shape,'' Mr Goordon was quoted as saying by a CMC report.

''But there has been a tremendous effort and I think everything is being pulled together, and we are now far more comfortable with Grenada,'' he said.

The chief organiser confessed accommodation was the biggest challenge in Guyana is a challenging issue.

''I can't say it has been entirely solved but we feel a lot more comfortable about it now,'' he said.

''Guyana may have a difficulty with cruise ships but we have a few cruise ships which we've already been reliably informed will be coming from India and Australia and these we expect will take up a lot of the slack,'' he added.
