UPA Govt faces no threat, would complete full term: MK
Chennai, July 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi today said the Congress-led UPA Government faced no threat from the his party and asserted that the government would complete its full five-year term.
In a statement here, he said a systematic campaign was going on in a section of the media to create a rift between the DMK, a key constituent, and the UPA and thereby to dislodge the UPA Government at the Centre, but they would not succeed in their attempts.
''After I said the DMK was thinking of pulling out from the UPA Government on the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) issue, a section of the media twisted the matter and projected that the party threatened to withdraw support at the Centre,'' he said.
Certain forces have launched a planned campaign with the help of a section of media, with the hope that the relations between the DMK and the UPA should turn bitter, leading to the fall of the UPA Government, but their dream would not come true, Mr Karunanidhi said.
The recent statement made by the Left parties that they would not withdraw support to the UPA Government and the DMK's firm support to the UPA, clearly showed that the forces would not succeed in their attempt to topple the Manmohan Singh Government so that they could form their ''communal'' Government, Mr Karunanidhi said.
