Toyota out to solve drinking water crisis in Ramanagaram town
Bangalore, July 10 (UNI) Automobile major Toyota Kirloskar has come forward to ease the drinking water problem of Ramanagaram Town, 60 km from here, by initiating a rural drinking water project.
The project involved constructing two water storage tanks with a total capacity to store 1.5 million litres.
Toyota Kirloskar Managing Director Atsushi Toyoshima handed over the letter of intent on the proposed construction of the water tanks to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, a company release here said today.
About 80,000 people lived in the town and half of them were facing acute water shortage as the water level in borewells and river Arkavathy dipped drastically this summer, leaving them parched, the release said.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Toyoshima said ''The project is aimed at helping the government in providing drinking water to the residents of Ramanagaram town throughout the year.'' UNI MSP RG HVB1910
