Science seats up for grabs in final DU cut off list
New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) With admissions in Arts and Commerce streams closed in most colleges, for students wanting to secure a seat in the Delhi University the fourth and the final cut off list has brought some hope.
In the science stream, colleges including ARSD, Deen Dayal Upadhaya, Deshbandhu and Rajdhani college have vacancies in some courses.
The list did not have much to offer to candidates who were harbouring hopes of gaining admission in Arts and Commerce subjects. Seats in these streams in most colleges were filled after the announcement of the first list only.
''I was hoping against hope that the I will at least get into the BA Programme but the required marks are very high,'' said Anaya Mishra who scored 82 per cent.
''Science is also a good option and with seats still available in many colleges, I will now opt for the stream,'' she added.
For some students, evening colleges have emerged also an good alternative.
''I got admission in Economics (Hons) in Ram Lal Anand evening college. I had not scored well to get into a regular college. I will get a degree at the end of three years,'' said a Mukul Jain who had scored 73 per cent.
''How does it matter after three years my degree and that of a regular college students is going to be the same ,'' he adds For Physics (Hons), the required marks is 77 per cent in ANDC, 71 in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College and 69.66 per cent in Deshbandhu.
The cut off for Chemistry (Hons) is 66 per cent in ANDC, 70 per cent in ARSD , 67 per cent in Deshbandhu, 80 per cent in Hindu and 68 per cent in Rajdhani college.
In Ramjas college, the marks required for Physics (Hons) are 81 per cent and 71 per cent for Botany (Hons).
In ARSD and Dayal Singh Colleges, Hindi (Hons) is available at 55 per cent and 53-67 per cent respectively.
While in Aditi Mahavidyalaya, the cut off for the BA programme is 58 per cent, in Delhi College of Arts and Commerce the cut off for B Com is 84-89 per cent, in Deshbandhu the cut off for BA is 64 per cent and 61-63 for Political Science (Hons).
In Ram Lal Anand (Evening) college the cut off for BA is 59 per cent and for Economics (Hons) it is 70 per cent.
In Satyawati (Evening) the cut off for BA (Hons) has come down to 58-62 per cent and for B Com it is 74.25-76.25 per cent.
