Sri Lankan boy allegedly 'assaulted' by police at camp
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, July 9 (UNI) A young Sri Lankan refugee was allegedly assaulted by the police at the Mandapam Camp, near here on July seven.
Sources said Madhuson (7) was seriously injured when the camp police hit him during questioning in connection with a theft case.
Angry Lankan refugees staged a road roko on the Mandapam-Rameswaram National Highway stretch affecting traffic.
Following intervention of the Superintendent of Police Mahendra Kumar Rathore, cases were registered against the police who were on duty at the camp on the day and also against 450 refugees who took part in the road roko.
Meanwhile, 131 refugees arrived at Dhanuskodi coast by five boats this morning. After completing the formalities, they will be taken to the Mandapam Camp.
