Prabavathy takes charge as Karaikal Municipal Chairperson

Pondicherry, July 9 (UNI) R Prabavathy of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), elected as Karaikal municipal chairperson assumed office today.

Director of the Local administration department Mr Vallaban administered the oath of office to Prabavathy at a simple function this evening, according to reports reaching the headquarters here.

Eighteen municipal councillors also took oath along with Prabavathy.

Earlier in the day, 27 commune panchayat councillors and an equal number of village panchayat presidents and 204 village panchayat ward members took oath of office.
