No let up in hot weather condition in Kashmir
Srinagar, July 9 (UNI) Heat wave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of the Kashmir valley with no respite in sight from sultry weather as temperature hovered at 35.5 degrees Celsius on the third day today.
The Met office here said the maximum temperature recorded today was 35.5 degrees Celsius, above five degrees normal.
Incidentally, the temperature in the Srinagar City was slightly higher than that recorded in the winter capital at 35.0 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature in the summer capital was at 24.4 degrees Celsius, which was several degrees above normal.
The Met office predicted some respite for the people from hot and humid weather conditions during the next few days, saying the mighty Pir Panjal ranges obstruct the monsoon winds which will further take at least two-three days to reach Kashmir.
The residents of several parts of the summer capital and the Valley have complained of acute shortage of drinking water and electricity. Several areas in the city were without electricity for many hours yesterday and today.
However, reports received from Pahalgam and Gulmarg hill stations said that pleasant weather conditions prevailed in these resorts much to the delight of a large number of tourists.
