Hurriyat denies threat to Mirwaiz from Hizb
Srinagar, July 9 (UNI) The moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference today denied that any militant outfit had ever threatened its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq or any other amalgam leader.
In a telephonic statement to UNI, Mirwaiz Farooq's spokesman Advocate Shaid-ul-Islam categorically denied that there were any such threats to the Hurriyat Chairman or any amalgam leader.
''It is unfortunate that some mischievous elements having vested interests were floating such rumours. This is highly condemnable,'' he said.
It had been earlier reported that pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen had threatened the Mirwaiz with dire consequences and asked him to stay away from the dialogue process with the Indian government.
The outfit had also reportedly asked him to join hands with rival (hardline) Hurriyat faction Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
