Govt to provide grant upto 75 pc for cultivation of fruits

Chandigarh, July 9 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture Minister H S Chatha today said the state government has decided to give grant upto 75 per cent to promote the cultivation of fruits.

He said that a scheme would be introduced to compensate the farmers for the loss of mango fruit due to storm before its ripening.

Effective steps would also be taken to promote the export of mangoes and the farmers would be provided technical knowhow for the promotion of horticulture, Mr Chatha added.

He said that during his visit to Japan, which was basically related to exports, he found that such countries have ample potential to import mangoes and this could give the farmers handsome income.

He also urged the farmers to grow good varieties of mangoes to earn more income.
