US Navy missile-tracker arrives in Japan -Kyodo
TOKYO, July 8 (Reuters) A US Navy destroyer equipped with the most advanced Aegis missile guidance system arrived at the navy's Yokosuka base in Japan today, Kyodo news service reported.
The 9,217-ton USS Mustin is equipped with radar capable of tracking ballistic missiles such as North Korea's long-range Taepodong-2, the report said.
A salvo of missile tests by North Korea this week unsettled the region and led to calls for the UN Security Council to impose international sanctions on Pyongyang.
The US Navy now has eight Aegis-equipped vessels at Yokosuka with most of them upgraded to serve missile defence missions, Kyodo said.
In August, the US Navy is scheduled to deploy the 9,516-ton Aegis cruiser Shiloh at Yokosuka, it said.
