Falta, Jul 8 (UNI) West Bengal's thrust on industrial rejuvenation received a further boost today with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee announcing the government's plan to set up two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Haldia and urged the labourers to act 'responsibly' at these export zones.

Speaking on the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Patton Ltd's fourth unit at Falta, the Chief Minister said here that the labourers in the SEZs should act 'responsibly' to cater to foreign clients on time apart from the management.

''An expressway from Barasat to Raichak and Kulpi is also proposed to come up,'' Mr Bhattacharjee said.

Mr Bhattacharjee said the state government had taken up the issue of constructing the express way with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who had referred the project to the Planning Commission.

With an aim to develop the infrastructure of South 24 Parganas, the Chief Minister said there was a proposal to build a bridge at Kukrahati that would connect Haldia.

Among the two SEZs in Haldia, one would be a chemical hub, Mr Bhattacharjee informed.

Mr Bhattacharjee said feasiblity studies were on to have two more ports in the state--one at Kulpi and another at Sagar, besides a deep draft port.

The Chief Minister, however, raised serious concerns about the Kolkata and Haldia ports, saying trade at these ports would be adversely affected if the Centre does not take up the dredging work in time.

At least Rs 300 crores would be spent in the two ports to fix the siltation problem.
