Falta, Jul 8 (UNI) Patton, a West Bengal based company, will invest Rs 60 crores to set up its export-oriented engineering goods unit at Falta Special Economic Zone, which is set to earn foreign exchange worth Rs 250 crores through exports to the USA and Canada.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the unit, Patton International Ltd Managing Director Sanjay Budhia said after becoming a household name by way of providing water tanks, the company has taken a huge leap forward by deciding to diversify into manufacturing engineering goods.

The state-of-the-art facility, to be set up on five-acres of land, is the fourth unit of the company in the state and would provide employment to 250 persons.

Patton has three other units at Garia, Behala and Kodalia.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who laid the foundation stone of the unit, lauded the Patton management for maintaining good relation with employees as the company had not lost a single day to strikes and lock-out since its inception.

Falta Development Commissioner Arun Bit said at least 15 new companies have evinced interest to set up units in the Falta SEZ.

Last year the Falta Special Economic Zone exported goods worth Rs 525 crores from the 95 units operating there.

Patton is the domestic market leader in water storage tanks, PVC pipes and other material handling cantainers.
