IOC plans to introduce vehicle tracking system
Mumbai, Jul 8: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is planning to implement vehicle tracking system for around 20,000 tank trucks by this financial year end.
Under the project, the trucks would be fitted with the global positioning system (GPS) equipment, IOC Chairman Sarthak Behuria told mediapersons, after inaugurating the first comprehensive automated retail facility at a local petrol station of the company here this morning.
On the new automation facility, he said, ''The facility provided by the company would ensure speedy transactions, easier billing and reduced refuelling downtime to the customers.'' In view of the over-arching benefits of retail automation, Indian Oil is planning to complete automation at over 1,000 retail outlets in the first phase by the year-end, at a cost of about Rs 200 crore. The next phase will cover an additional 1,000 petrol stations.
