BAJ demands Special Courts for Sex scandal cases
Jammu, July 8 (UNI) Bar Association Jammu President A K Sawhney today urged the State Government to constitute Special Courts for speedy trials of the cases related to sex scandal.
Mr Sawhney in a statement here , requested Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig and Law Minister of the state to set up such courts at the earliest as the accused arrested in the case are influentral and their right to defend themselves and have speedy trial cannot be denied.
He also asked the government to ensure safety to defence counsels of accused in Srinagar.
Mr Sawhney appealed to the other factions of striking lawyers to suspend their agitation and resume the work in the interest of their clients. He said that the strike by lawyers was illegal as per Supreme Court judgement and as per High Court rules governing Advocates particularly when the division bench of Jammu and Kashmir High court is seized of the matter and monitoring the CBI inquiry.
