At least 23 people killed, seven injured in bus accident

Dehradun, July 8 (UNI) At least 23 people, including 4 women and 2 children, were killed in a bus accident at Dharasu, in Uttararkashi district of Uttaranchal today.

The bus (UA-07 C-9232) enroute to Uttarkashi from Dehradun, fell into a 500 metre deep gorge at 1400 hrs, due to steering failure, at Dharasu, about 30 km from Uttarkashi killing 22 passengers, official sources said.

The dead bodies of 22 passengers were extracted from the accident site. Of the eight injured passengers who were rushed to the district Hospital and Primary Health Centre in Uttarkashi one succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

ITBP jawans, and the police force along with district administration were conducting rescue operation.
