Shiv Sena to donate Rs 1 lakh each to riot affected families

Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, July 7 (UNI) Shiv Sena will donate Rs one lakh each to the families of the two cops who were brutally killed by the furious mob in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi on Wednesday night as a fall out of the riots, Thane Mayor Rajan Vichare announced here yesterday.

Sena Chief Bal Thackery has expressed anguish over the incident and asked Sena Executive President Uddhav to visit the families of the cops. He also directed his son to hand over their donation of Rs 1 lakh to the families of each of the cops killed in the riots.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the two cops were taken to the respective villages in Jalgaon and Nashik district and cremeated with full honours as they died on duty.

After the two day bloody riots which rocked the entire state, the communally sensitive powerloom town of Bhiwandi is now limping back to normalcy, the police said today.

The police said no fresh incidences were reported since the last 12 hours in the town.

Meanwhile representatives of the Raza Academy which had spearheaded the movement told reporters at Bhiwandi that they were not opposed to the construction of the police station. What they wanted was the area that was meant for the Kabrastan, be handed over to them from the entire plot.
