Mumbai, July 7 (UNI) A city-based lawyer Shakur Gafur Kudle today alleged that he was asked to leave the country by an Assistant Government Pleader for criticising the government's policies in a courtroom and has complained to President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam about it.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Supreme Court Chief Justice, Bombay High Court Chief Justice K Vyas, Law and Judiciary Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

In the letter, Kudle informed that while he was arguing a matter before justice B H Marlapalle and attacked the high-handedness of government officials, assistant government pleader D T Palekar asked him to leave the country and that the learned judge did not object to the wordings pronounced by the pleader.

Palekar, however, denied the allegations.
