Mittal to set up 12 MT steel plant in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UNI) After winning a major corporate battle against the Luxumbourg-based Arcelor, Mittal Steel Chairman Laxmi Niwas Mittal today proposed to set up a 12 million tonnes steel plant in two phases in Orissa with an expected investment of Rs 40,000 crore.
''I have indicated that after the merger with Arcelor, the Arcelor-Mittal group would like to have a 12 million tonne steel plant in Orissa,'' the steel tycoon said here.
The plant, he said, would be set up in two phases with a capacity of six million tonnes each.
Mr Mittal, who arrived from London this morning, held a one-hour long meeting with the state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
