'I do not subscribe to any brand of political ideology'

Mumbai, July 7: Newly elected Member of Rajya Sabha Rahul Bajaj has stressed that he will continue as a representative of the business community in the Parliament and not align with any single party as he ''does not subscribe to any brand of political ideology''.

Speaking at the felicitation function organised for him by the Indian Merchants' Chamber and others, Rahul Bajaj, head of Bajaj Group of Industries, said, ''I am not a member of any political party, yet I was elected as a businessman by members of the Maharashtra legislature.'' He further said, ''I will advocate enactment of laws which will be fair to all sections of industries and also to the people of India. I do not want to use the Rajya Sabha platform for promoting my companies or the automotive industry.'' Mr Bajaj said the business community was as important as the political one as it generated wealth for the country and provided employment.

Mr Bajaj, who got elected to Rajya Sabha from the state last month was backed by the NCP, BJP and Shiv Sena and defeated Congress candidate Avinash Pande.
