Film and television personality Ishan Barua dead
Guwahati, Jul 7 (UNI) Veteran film and television personality Ishan Barua died at a local hospital last night after prolonged illness.
He was 65 years old and is survived by his wife and two children.
A noted film personality of the state, Mr Barua was actively related with the Jyoti Chitrabon and the Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra. For four decades he has been associated with drama, film and the television medium.
He also produced couple of television documentaries, the last being on Anundoram Barua, the first Assamese civil servant of 19th century.
He had also served as an Asom Carbon official.
Family sources said Mr Barua had been admitted at the Wintrobe Hospital here after suffering from high fever. He had a history of cardiac problems and breathed his last yesterday.
His death has been mourned by his admirers and well-wishers who thronged his Uzanbazar residence in the city to pay their last respects.
His cremation will take place tomorrow morning.
