Delhi police files status report in Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case

New Delhi, July 7 (UNI) The Delhi police today in a city court filed the status report against the Management of Indraprastha Apollo hospital in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case.

Appearing before the Patiala House Court Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Kamini Lau, Additional Commissioner of police, B P Chaudhury along with Additional SHO filed the status report.

The status report states that, ''66 persons have already been examined by the Investigating Officer (IO). It has been reported that the hospital appeared to be overzealous in giving clean chit to the accused Rahul Mahajan, whereas the facts indicated were completely different.'' According to the IO, the documents showing cutting, tampering had been sent for examination and expert opinion along with the specimen handwriting of the accused persons. As per the report, a large number of discrepancies has been noticed in the case sheet and other medical papers which indicates that an attempt has been made by the Apollo hospital authorities to hide the true picture of Rahul Mahajan.

''The court has directed the IO to comply with the order of June 14 and no arrest would be made without a warrant from this court.

The DCP concerned would take all the necessary steps to ensure a free, fair and impartial investigations,'' Ms Lau said in her order.
