2 militants, solider among four killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, July 7 (UNI) A soldier and two militants were among four people killed in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said today.

An official spokesman said body of one Manzoor Ahmad Mir was recovered at Dalina Baramulla today.

A report from Baramulla said an encounter took place between militants and security forces at Machil in north Kashmir early this morning. The encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants.

A solider was critically wounded, and later succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.

Reinforcement was rushed to the area from nearby camps and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants, they added.

Sources said militants kidnapped one Mohammad Ayub, a released ultra of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) at Tral last night. However, his throat slit body was found in the nearby fields this morning.

Security forces killed another militant in an encounter at Kangan late last night. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Security forces busted a hideout and recovered two AK rifles, six magazines and 210 rounds of ammunition at Lohakotha forest last night. However, no one was arrested.
