Zero Budget Farming finds place in K'taka Organic Farming policy
Bangalore, July 4 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has adopted the Zero Budget Organic Farming, developed by agriculturist Subhash Palekar, in its Organic Farming policy, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur informed the Legislative Council today.
Replying to an issue raised by Mr M P Nadagouda (JD-U) during question hour, he said some farmers of the State have made use of this new method of natural farming in their fields successfully.
Mr Kashempur said the State Government had given importance to the Zero Budget natural farming because it promoted higher production at lesser cost without use of chemical fertilisers. The Government had taken up programmes in rural areas to promote the four-fold formula of Mr Paleker to protect plants, he added.
Earlier, Mr Nadagouda wanted to know whether Zero Budget Organic Farming had been included by the Government in its agriculture policy.
